I really enjoyed reading this piece! I'm currently in the middle of reading Bill Bryson's, 'a short history of nearly everything,' and am finding it utterly amusing how many of the scientific discoveries and advancements belonging to the past several centuries were, in reality, the result of miraculously accurate guesswork.

Humans will always and inevitably be just one step behind in comprehension of precisely the thing they believe they are trying to comprehend. As you wonderfully put it, we don't know what it is that we need to know.
