Recently I've caught myself replying mindlessly to others, typically in the form of commentary like, "that's so funny," or "fair," or "makes sense." Not only are my replies often disingenuous, but I also despise the fact that I feel the need to fill the silence with a meaningless reply. Your article is a good reminder to not only listen, but to listen and understand that there is not always a need to reply. I have a feeling my words will come to mean more if they're not always spewing out of my mouth when I get nervous or shy.
